A five star experience - Jungle style!

It was an adventure from the very beginning. From sorting out my transport to Yala to the safaris and to the last night we had, at Yala Village. All in all, each aspect simply added towards making my experience possibly one of the best trips to Yala, in quite a while.

It was nearly dinner time when we arrived at the hotel on April 16. And what followed was a stimulating conversation followed by a scrumptious dinner. Sleep came well.

Being a total wildlife buff, the next day’s safari was what I was looking forward to.

And boy, was the next morning going to be awesome. After roaming around the park for a little under an hour, we heard of a leopard sighting. And in just a few minutes we got to the spot and there he was, the majestic creature walking calmly, to cross from one side to the other. He was truly the king of his jungle – His grace, his attitude, it was all so moving. This was followed by sighting a number of elephants as well as the many beautiful creatures that the Yala National Park has on showcase for visitors.

So yes, Christmas had come early for me! I was on a complete and utter high on life and to be honest, there was nothing more that could have topped what I was experiencing!

Come to think of it, there was something that nearly topped it off. This experience was when we were treated to an amazing ‘Bush Dinner.’

The area arranged for this unique experience, was just by the watering hole which is part of the hotel property. It was lit with fire torches and the evening kicked off with a few cocktails, and some interesting cocktail eats, which were completely innovative! Hats off to the chef and his staff!

And so, the tone was set for the evening. A barbecue followed – the food was amazing. To all this, what brought in some excitement were the crocodiles in the water, having their eye on us, constantly, and wondering what on earth we were doing in their territory!

The atmosphere was certainly five star – jungle style. And I couldn’t have ended this very memorable stay better!
